As you all know Edward “Ed” Warren Miney (September 7 1926-August 23 2006) and Lorriane Rita Warren (born January 31 1927) are the biggest inspiration for my love of horror also a main inspiration to this blog. These two people not only have a made a huge impact in the paranormal community but also for the movies we all know and love.

Ed Warren served in the World War II US Navy and as a police officer before becoming a famous demonologist, author, and lecturer. Ed’s wife Lorraine Warren is a clairvoyant and a light trance medium. She used this skill as an invaluable tool in their investigations.

Demonology is the systematic study of demons or beliefs about demons.[1] It is the branch of theology relating to supernatural beings who are not gods.[2] It deals both with benevolent beings that have no circle of worshippers or so limited a circle as to be below the rank of gods, and with malevolent beings of all kinds. The practitioner of demonology as a profession is called demonologist.

The term clairvoyance (/klerˈvɔɪəns/)[1] (from French clair meaning “clear” and voyance meaning “vision”) is the alleged ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through extrasensory perception.[2][3] Any person who is claimed to have some such ability is said accordingly to be a clairvoyant (/klerˈvɔɪənt/)[4] (“one who sees clearly”).

Ed & Lorraine Warren – Famous Investigations

1). Smurl Haunting

Jack and Janet Smurl from West Pittston, Pennsylvania reported that their home was haunted by a demon in their home between 1974 – 1989. Disturbances included sounds, smells, apparitions, their dog getting thrown into the wall, shook their mattress, pushed one of their daughters down a flight of stairs, physically and sexually assaulted Jack and sexually assaulted Janet. The Warrens were called in once again and claimed the Smurl house was the home to three evil spirits along with the demon who sexually assaulted Jack and Janet Smurl.

2). The Perrons Haunting

Recently made more famous by The Conjuring (2013) is The Perrons Haunting. In the 1970’s, the Warrens investigated the Perrons Rhode Island home. They concluded that the house was haunted by demons. The demons were summoned by a witch named Bathesheba Sherman after she cursed the house in the 19th century.

3). Werewolf

In 1983, The Warrens were said to have exorcised a “werewolf demon” from Bill Ramsey. Bill Ramsey had bitten multiple people claiming to be a wolf. There is no hard evidence to support the claim that Bill Ramsey was indeed possessed by a werewolf-type demon or evil spirit.

4). Demon Murder Trial

In 1981, Alan Bono was allegedly killed by Anre Johnson. Ed and Lorraine Warren were called into investigate a demonic possession prior to the killing. They determined that the younger brother of Mr. Johnson’s finacee was indeed possessed by a demon but also Mr. Johnson was possessed by a demon. Mr Johnson pleaded “Not Guilty by Reason of Demonic Possession” but was found guilty nonetheless.

5). The Haunting in Connecticut

Ed and Lorraine Warren were the paranormal investigators to claim the Snedeker house to be infested with demons. This investigation was conducted in the 1980’s at the request of Carmen Snedeker. The family moved to Southington, Connecticut so they could be closer to UConn Health where her son was being treated for cancer. Carmen reported on her demon sightings: “One of the demons was very thin, with high cheekbones, long black hair and pitch black eyes. Another had white hair and eyes, wore a pinstriped tuxedo, and his feet were constantly in motion.” Later it was discovered that the house was a former mortuary home with a tragic past. The former morticians were said to be involved in necromancy and/or necrophilia with the corpses. Lorraine Warren later said that the case was “much, much scarier than any movie could ever be,” after watching The Haunting in Connecticut horror movie released in 2009. Lorraine says that the house was cleared of any presence after the exorcism in 1988.

6). The Amityville Horror

The Amityville Horror case was one of the most well noted cases that the paranormal couple ever investigated. In December 1975, Long Island (New York) couple George and Kathy Lutz with three children claimed to be under attack by a violent and demonic presence. The home was 112 Ocean Avenue, in Amityville which is on the south shore of Long Island. 13 months before the Lutzes purchased the house for 80K and moved in there was a very violent crime at the house. Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed six of his family members and left them face down in their beds. This demon or group of demons eventually drove the couple out of their house along with their kids after just 28 days of residing at the property. Most regard this case as a hoax but Lorraine Warren boldly declared that The Amityville Haunting was indeed a true story.
